In 1919 Prin. Trimbak Appaji Kulkarni, the founder of Gokhale Education Society came to visit Mr. Madanrao Raut. He was highly impressed by the locality of the Bordi village. He promised the villagers in the meeting(Gramsabha)to start a high school in Bordi.
As was suggested by Prin. T.A. Kulkarni, Mr. Shankar Ramchandra Bhise, the life member of society came forward to carry the responsibility on his shoulders after the inclusion of the school in Gokhale Education Society. At the beginning Mr. Bhise was unwilling to work in rural area. But after his visit to Poladpur, he was completely moved by the sight of tomb of Christian Missionary who had come thousand miles away from his own country and had served the leprosy patients. Mr. Bhise decided to come back to Bordi.
In 1921 Shri. Krushnarao Mahadev Chitre, B.A. Honors come and joined the school as a teacher. In later years he was headmaster and was in change of Shardashram, a hostel for 65 years till his death.
It was the divine confluence of knowledge service and ideals; that one by one talented and dedicated teachers and non-teaching staff joined and added to the glory of the institute.
The influence of the work of these efficient and expert teachers increased like the full moon. Due to the untiring efforts of Mr. Framroz Daruwala, Mr. Gopalrao Nana Patil, Mr. Balvantrao Musale and other. Smt. Dhanabai a pious Parsi lady, donated generously Rs. 50,000 and two acres of land for construction of the school building in the loving memory of her later mother Soonabai Pestonji Hakimji. S.P.H. High school is named after her.
At the very same time Mr. Cambel, the collector of Thane District agreed to give six acres of land to the school. In 1924 the work of building completed and was inaugurated at the auspicious hand of Sir Kavasji Jahangir.
Late Shri. Acharya Bhise, Late Shri. Chitre Guruji and Late Shri. Atmaram Pant Save served for a life long period and embibed good culture in students of hostel and school.
Acharya Bhise conducted many experiments in the field of education with the help of his colleagues, In a short time span he led the school to glorious height. Bhise Guruji started ‘Mulodyog Shikshan’the business oriented education along with academic education. He made handlooms popular and included them in the craft education. Students weaved towels, bed sheets and blankets on the handlooms. Agricultural education was also included in the purpose.
In 1962 Technical education started in the school. The school received Rs. 200000/- as fund for Technical education building from Mr. Sorabji Dhirozshah Godrej again he supported the work by giving more Rs. 200000/-
Bordi high school participated in freedom struggle: In 1942 movement teachers and students both participated in the struggle and many of them suffered imprisonment for the noble cause. The school gain the recognition as a school that nourished nationalism.
This school is symbol of National integration. Students of all religions caste and creed are securing co-education freely without any discrimination.
In 1945 the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee. All the past students collected a huge fund for school and an auditorium was constructed out of the fund. It was named ‘Guru Dakshina Mandir’ in respect of love for their teachers. A past student Mr. Baburao Parulekar took lot of efforts for this noble cause.
In 1970 Golden Jubilee was celebrated. In the very same year Past students Association was formed. Many projects such as ‘Vishramdham‘ , ‘Camping ground’ and ‘Gandhi Kutir’ were undertaken and completed.
The ‘Vidhyarthi Sangh’ also deposited an amount of Rs. 60000/- for Scholarships. The village in Bordi and the school is blassed by the visits of educationist, writers, authors, scientists such as Kasturba Gandhi, Dr.Rajendra Prasad, Sane Guruji, Jayprakash Narayan, Balasaheb Kher, Indira Gandhi, Tatyasaheb Kelkar, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Kaka Kalekar, Swami Anand and many more . All India Scheduled Tribes Conference was held in 1959 at Bordi and Dr. Rajendra Prasad the first president of India was the chief guest.
In 1980 on the auspicious occasion of ‘Diamond Jubilee’, Gurudakshina Mandir, was renewed. The year 1993-94 is the mile stone in the progress of Bordi cantre because number of new educational projects were undertaken by the society to commemorate a unique occation of the centenary years of Late Acharya Bhise, Late Prin. Atmarampant Save & 75th Anniversary years (Amrit Mahotsava) of the school falling in the same year.
There was a need for Science College at Bordi and Shri Nitinbhai Mehta & his brothers and family came forward construct the college building ad measuring 20000 Sq.ft. In education complex of Gokhale Education Society at Bordi. The college was named after their beloved father Late N.B. Mehta who was teacher in Bordi school. N.B. Mehta science college has open the door for higher education in science where students can offer subjects Chemistry, Physics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Information Technology and Computer Science for B.Sc. Degree course of Mumbai University & also M.Sc.in Chemistry IT & Computer science since 2005 and graduation course in commerce was also started. The college was awarded B Grade by NAAC in 2010. It was awarded Best College Award (Rural) by Mumbai University in 2010-11.
In 1999 Shri. Jaykumar Pathare from Kalyan donated to establish Mrs. Lalita Jaykumar Pathare Information Institute to run computer degree courses in the cilloege. The institute offers B.Sc. & M.Sc.degree courses in computer Science & Information Technology of Mumbai university.
In continuation with the English Medium Primary School , Pujya Chitre Guruji English Medium High School was opened in 1998.
In the academic year 2011-12 Katgara Plytechnic (Diploma in Engineering) was started to facilitate the technical education in the area.
The education complex of Gokhale Education Society at Bordi has become an ideal centre of education in rural area where students can get opportunity to learn in Marathi, Gujarati & English Medium up to secondary level education and also continue their higher education up to post graduation and diploma courses in Engineering
